With our Great Journeys you can follow in the footsteps of some of the great travellers of a bygone age, experiencing several far-flung and exotic destinations all in a single guided walking holiday of a lifetime.
Our Great Journeys are guided walking holidays that are longer in duration, take you across a wider region (often more than one country) and are generally lower grade, easier walking, staying in comfortable accommodation.
What can I expect?
We freely admit the journeys are not taxing for the high-grade walkers amongst you. All of our Great Journeys feature guided walking, generally at E grade, perhaps occasionally D grade, with some offering slightly more challenging walking.

You’ll stay in higher class accommodation that is considerably comfortable - most people are surprised by the luxury of the hotels that we use on these holidays, making them great value for money.
Where can I go?
Since we introduced our first great journey ‘Walking Around the World’ to celebrate the new Millennium, the chance to roam in several exciting destinations on a single holiday has caught the imagination of many.
New for 2008/9 –
Our new Classic South America tour definitely qualifies as a Great Journey. We spend the first three nights in Rio de Janeiro, home to Sugar Loaf Mountain and the Copacabana beach and guarded over by the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer. On to the tropical paradise island of Ilha Grande and Parati with its stunning colonial architecture to Puerto Iguazu and the breathtaking Iguazu Falls. Travelling through Argentina to Posadas before spending three nights in Carlos Pellegrini Park with its amazing variety of wildlife, we finally arrive in Buenos Aires. The presidential palace (Casa Rosada) where Eva Peron made her speech to the people of Argentina from the famous balcony is a must-see. A tango show finishes off this once-in-a-lifetime holiday!
Embark on a voyage of discovery through unknown Asia! South Korea is a country unfamiliar to even the most of passionate travellers. Along your journey, you will gain an insight into the country’s history, taking in unspoilt and contrasting landscapes, including high peaks, forests and waterfalls, developing cities and coastal sights, returning a little more educated in the eastern way of life.
Our ‘Central American Journey’ rivals any area in the world for sheer beauty, diversity and intensity of flora and fauna. Add to this a chance to see the ruins left by the Mayan civilisation and exploring a country like Nicaragua (which 15 years ago was being ravaged by civil war) and you have the makings of a holiday of a lifetime.
